Why did you decide to get married at the Water's Edge?

We chose The Waters Edge because we wanted to have our wedding close to our family. We also really love that there are many options for both the ceremony and the reception. We also liked that there are options in case of bad weather.

Relationship History:

We met when Lexi was in junior high and Chris was in high school. Since then we have moved a few times and now live in St Louis. We also have 3 dogs and a cat together who we consider our children. Now we are about to celebrate our 10th year together!

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

We haven't done a lot of planning yet, just the venue and the photographer so far, but we both hope we won't have too many bad experiences!

Why did you choose the Water's Edge for your wedding?

We wanted an outdoor wedding and preferably close to home. We knew we loved the Water's Edge just by looking at the website. When we went to visit we were hooked. Love the idea of having a cabin to stay at before and after the wedding. And the lakes make a beautiful background.

Relationship History:

We have been friends since 9th grade. I told Elly I had a crush on her right after graduating high school. Ten years later we finally started dating. We grew closer and closer and 5 years later Elly gave me my engagement ring on my 30th birthday in New Orleans.

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

Other than having our original date already booked we have had a pretty smooth planning experience so far!

Why did you decide to get married at the Water's Edge?

I had attended a wedding here previously and thought it was just beautiful! It was the first place I thought of when we started planning!

Relationship History:

Alex and I met and dated for a short time when I was a senior in high school in 2005. We remained friends for many years after until we started dating again in 2013 and now we're getting married in 2017!

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

Best experience would have to be picking out all the vendors and trying lots of food! The worst experience would probably be waiting for the big day to finally get here!

Why did you choose the Water's Edge for your wedding?

When we looked at the Water's Edge we were taken away by how beautiful, yet personal it felt. And our fairy tail wedding became a reality.

Relationship History:

We met by accident through a mutual friend, we started hanging out, he met my kids (also by accident) they wanted him to hang out with all of us. He asked them if we could date, asked if he could propose, and let them help pick out the ring. He even had their birthstones placed in the ring.

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

Best experience is deciding on and meeting our photographer. Worst experience, still not meeting with our cake decorator, we have one, just have still not been able to sit down with her and really go over details. it kind of scares me.

Catch up with our brides as they share their stories and why they chose the Water's Edge for their wedding. They also share some of their best and worst wedding planning experiences.

Wedding Date: October 7, 2017

Why did you decide to get married at the Water's Edge?

We had toured a few places, but instantly fell in love with the rustic appearance and lodge feel at the Water's Edge. It is perfect for our aesthetic.

Relationship History:

We met in Boston, Massachusetts. Matthew was serving in AmeriCorps and Randyn had just finished his Masters degree. After living in the Northeast for some time, we decided to move to Southeast Missouri (Matthew's Home) to begin to build a life together. We will have been in a relationship for six years when our wedding date will roll around.

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

So far we have had nothing but a wonderful experience. We have been blessed with family and friends who have helped, guided, and embraced this process with us.

Why did you decide to get married at the Water's Edge?

We loved the scenery and how everything was all in one place. It feels like we're having a destination wedding but in town for all our friends and family to join!

Relationship History:

We were good friends all through high school and ran into each other 5 years later and decided to hang out. It all started from there and did not take us long to decide we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together!

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

We haven't done much planning just yet, but our best wedding planning experience thus far would be designing our "Game of Thrones" themed grooms cake. Our worst experience would be not necessarily a bad experience, but wedding planning is definitely a lot harder than it looks Haha.

Why did you decide to get married at the Water's Edge?

We built a house in Gordonville and during the process I would always past the Water’s Edge and constantly tell Joseph, “One day I will get married there." I love the lights, the outdoors, and all the lakes! Its my dream spot.. and now its a dream come true.  💛

Relationship History:

Joseph and I met in high school. We were always friends. A year or so after we both graduated and were starting our lives we started hanging out again and then we never stopped. He became the best friend I always wanted. So now, here we are, 3 years later with a beautiful little girl. And lastly, getting to spend the rest of our lives with our best friends.

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

Best was getting my dress and taking our engagement pictures. Worst is trying to find bridesmaids dresses to satisfy all bridesmaids.

Why did you choose the Water's Edge for your wedding?

With the great accommodations, amazing views, affordable price, and a convenient location it was a no brainer for us! We had already put it at the top of our list before we went and toured it. After the tour we knew it was where our big day was going to happen!

Relationship History:

We met two and a half years ago on New Years Eve and pretty much have been inseparable ever since! We got engaged December 2015 and are counting down the days until our Spring Wedding.

Best and Worst Wedding Planning Experience:

Water's Edge has been the easiest wedding decision we have made! Amy was very responsive and quick to answer all of our questions. On the other hand, since recently moving to Phoenix, it has been very difficult to make some of our other wedding decisions while being so far away. But fortunately, we have amazing family and friends to help us out every step of the way.
